ESG and financial performance of pension fund portfolios

We think environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, and climate specifically, are financially material for investors. Climate change and the policy response are changing the landscape for many businesses and affecting the risks of downgrades or defaults. Our experience suggests that companies with the best ESG performance can be the most resilient, while assets such as green bonds – which directly target ESG issues – are seeing growing demand.
