AXA IM strengthens its commercial development with the appointment of Jon Bailie as Global Head of Distribution

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) today announced the appointment of Jon Bailie as Global Head of Distribution. Based in London, he will be in charge of business development for AXA IM both for the institutional and retail markets across all regions where AXA IM has a presence. Jon Bailie started his new role on January 4th 2010. He is a member of the management board of AXA IM and reports to Dominique Carrel-Billiard, CEO of AXA IM.

Commenting on Jon Bailie’s appointment, Dominique Carrel-Billiard said “We are delighted that Jon, with his 25 years of experience in asset management, joins AXA IM at a defining moment in the evolution of the industry, in the aftermath of an unprecedented financial crisis, when we want to further strengthen our relationships with our clients and provide them with the advice, the service and the products they need.”

Before joining AXA IM, Jon spent 17 years with Russell Investments, a leading US investment adviser, where he successively held the positions of Research Analyst (1992-1996), Director of Research (1996-1997) and Director of Sales and Client Services for the UK and Netherlands (1997-1999). Between 1999 and 2005, he took responsibility for developing Russell’s institutional business in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, before taking on the same responsibility for the retail segment across the same region. In 2006, he joined the firm’s Global Executive Committee. During his last years at Russell (2006-2008), he headed the firm’s alternative investments group, where he managed the integration of Pantheon Ventures, a private equity fund of funds business acquired by Russell.

Aged 46, Jon Bailie is a graduate in Physics from Imperial College, London and holds an MBA from the University of Kansas.
